According to historical records the local roman population started to grow vine at the slopes of Szársomlyó. During the centuries the wine of Villány has become world famous. Maintaining this reputation is our primary goal that has been carried out in our company for fiftyfive years.

Presently viniculture takes place on 120 hectares. The warm, mediterranean climate nurtures eight types of red- Cabernet Savignon and Franc, Kékfrankos, Kékoportó, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Nero and Zweigelt - and eight types of white grapes - Chardonnay, Chasselas, Muscat Ottonel, Nectar, Pinot Blanc, Olaszrizling, Savignon Blanc, Szürkebarát and Tramini. In our wine-cellars in Villány and Villánykövesd - including Batthányi wine-cellar was built in 1754 - 7000 hectolitres of wine are mellowed in traditional oak barrels. The Villányi Szársomlyó Mg.
